An Overview of First Person Vision and Egocentric Video Analysis for Personal Mobile Wearable Devices
نویسندگان
چکیده
The emergence of new wearable technologies such as action cameras and smart glasses has increased the interest of the computer vision scientists in the First Person perspective. Nowadays, this field is attracting attention and investments of companies aiming to develop commercial devices with First Person Vision recording capabilities. Due to this interest, it is expected to have an increasing demand of methods to exploit these videos. The current methods to process these videos present particular combinations of different image features and quantitative methods to accomplish specific objectives like object detection, activity recognition, user machine interaction and so on. This paper summarizes the evolution of the state of the art in First Person Vision video analysis between 1997 and 2013, highlighting the most commonly used features, methods, challenges and opportunities of the field.

Unsupervised Learning of Deep Feature Representation for Clustering Egocentric Actions
Popularity of wearable cameras in life logging, law enforcement, assistive vision and other similar applications is leading to explosion in generation of egocentric video content. First person action recognition is an important aspect of automatic analysis of such videos. Annotating such videos is hard, not only because of obvious scalability constraints, but also because of privacy issues ofte...
متن کاملTowards Semantic Fast-Forward and Stabilized Egocentric Videos
The emergence of low-cost personal mobiles devices and wearable cameras and the increasing storage capacity of video-sharing websites have pushed forward a growing interest towards first-person videos. Since most of the recorded videos compose long-running streams with unedited content, they are tedious and unpleasant to watch. The fastforward state-of-the-art methods are facing challenges of b...
متن کاملEgocentric video description based on temporally-linked sequences
Egocentric vision consists in acquiring images along the day from a first person point-of-view using wearable cameras. The automatic analysis of this information allows to discover daily patterns for improving the quality of life of the user. A natural topic that arises in egocentric vision is storytelling, that is, how to understand and tell the story relying behind the pictures. In this paper...
متن کاملIntentional Photos from an Unintentional Photographer: Detecting Snap Points in Egocentric Video with a Web Photo Prior
Wearable cameras capture a first-person view of the world, and offer a hands-free way to record daily experiences or special events. Yet, not every frame is worthy of being captured and stored. We propose to automatically predict “snap points” in unedited egocentric video—that is, those frames that look like they could have been intentionally taken photos. We develop a generative model for snap...
